Thanks Norm,

But it would have to be pretty dam cheap.

All of the other many "holy scriptures" I've read, in the spirit of "know your enemy", have been far less difficult to obtain. Indeed, some of them have been almost shoved down my throat!

:-)

Here in Tasmania, we are offered the Jehovah's Witnesses' colourful, and childishly simplified, comic-book-style propaganda designed for the polygamous, semi-literate, revenge-killing, fetish-worshiping, natives of South Pacific Oceania. It must be shipped out of the (geographically ignorant) U.S.A. by the container load. I laughed my socks off!

If they only knew who their "god" really WAS!

Why Are Religious People More Racist?

"A recent analysis of religious attitudes by researchers at Duke, USC and Augsburg College reaches the conclusion that religious people tend to be more racist -- and the more religious you are, the more racist you tend to be. ... John Shook at the Center for Public Inquiry notes that those who are "spiritual" but do not hew to one religion in particular are not prone to racist beliefs. ... But the ability to put yourself in another's shoes -- "imagination" as philosopher Martha Nussbaum calls it -- is not just a palliative for racial and religious conflict: It's the fundamental agreement in a pluralistic society, which is why the rise of religious fundamentalism in the U.S. is so troubling on many fronts."

Hi Dyson, I don't think it should be called "imagination" it should be called empathy. There are so many people out there with this attitude. What I love to do, is show people what hypocrites they are. For example when my next door neighbour threatened to shoot all the stray cats that come into his yard. I pointed out how his cat is the worst offender in going into everyone else's yard. How would he feel if someone shot his cat? When you put it to them like that, they tend to see the errors in their thinking. And he's never said another word about shooting cats, lol.

I told the JW's that I would never allow my children to die just because I had to refuse a blood transfusion because Jehovah said not to take in blood. Maybe someone should tell them that the blood in meat is really not "meat juices" like they claim, it's actually blood. They kept on coming back so I finally had to get a little nasty and told them that I don't believe in god. They argued a little but have not come back since. Praise Jehovah, lol.

re: L ron hubbard and dianetics,

think i remember reading one time that in the forties, Hubbard himself joked to a writer friend of his after dinner in a bar - that he had it in him to go about creating a 'cult' that would be extremely profitable no end, and that he was having an immense chuckle about the whole thing over beers with this good friend of his - Guess that nefarious plot came to a good fruition in the end!

Mind you - the guy had an interesting life, travelled a lot - and wrote A LOT of sci-fi books -

however, following (entertaining) vid. shows clearly how full of BS Hubbard was! (also hinting at psychiatric issues maybe too)

Dear Sheila,

I like your attitude!

A friend of mine has a foolproof method for repelling foot-in-the-door Christian proselytisers. He smiles benignly and says quietly, "No thank you. I'm Jewish." He tells me it works a treat and they all but RUN away!

Ha ha!

Cheers!

Quetzal : ..a particular Christian sect will spread itself worldwide, which has existed since 1955, tracing back to the insurance broker Arthur DeMoss, who demanded that after his death, his big dollar fortune should be used for sectarian, respectively divine, purposes...DeMoss Foundation traces back to him, and around the turn of the millennium, this will be responsible for the fact that prominent people, such as politicians, sports heroes, and actors, etc. will make use of sectarian propaganda in public media, like in television and so on, in order to find new believers for sectarianism and the Christian religion.

That's funny Dyson, would your friend mind if I used that line?
Thankfully Sean, I know of no one around here who is a scientologist. They obviously only go after the big money makers like Tom and John. And don't get me started on the Baptists, because that could lead to dancing.

Chief exorcist Father Gabriele Amorth says Devil is in the Vatican
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/faith/article7056689.ece

"Sex abuse scandals in the Roman Catholic Church are proof that that "the Devil is at work inside the Vatican", according to the Holy See's chief exorcist...He approves, however, of the 1973 film The Exorcist, which although "exaggerated" offered a "substantially exact" picture of possession. "

Dear Sheila,

"That's funny Dyson, would your friend mind if I used that line?" Heck no. So ideas are untouchable intellectual property now? What is this world coming to? :-(

Best,
Dyson

The Catholic church has to blame someone (other than itself) for all the child sex abuse scandals. What better way than blaming it on the devil again! Its always his fault.

Dear Sanjin,

Peace Corps? In what peace and in how many peaces! Isn't that a contradiction term in words lately!

Although all good things at one time did try to start off with the right reason and for just and true cause! It's just the people that make it that way! ;)

They always told me that the church was only as good as the man behind the pulpit but I also stated that the church behind the man on the pulpit made or broke the common grounds for being there! Too much politics!

Now a days, it's what ever sells, kind of a so called have it your way at Burger King Day!

Always do right. This will gratify some people and astonish the rest. ~

Hi Dyson, yeah me and my darn politeness, what is this world coming to?
But you never know, there are so many patents on intellectual property.
Hi Darren, I wonder if this will be enough to topple the catholic church? The pope's own brother admitted to slapping his choir boys across the face.
Hi Mark, do you mean the Pedophile Protection Company (PPC for short and pun intended)

Lets hope so!

By memory I think theres only one more pope to come after this present one before the church crumbles.

Hi Mahigitam,

I read that article you posted, to me, it sounds like these priest who blamed the devil for their problems and behavior confesses to a another priest or bishop and they are forgiven very easily.

Hi Darren, on yor "post number 195", what contact report you found that at? I remember hearing something from the "Asket Contacts" saying that these religions will slowly fade away.

Dear friends, I am having a rough time living with my parents on religion. We, or my parents, are catholics and I was once religious until I started to asked questions which led me to a conclusion that God doesn't exist. I read the Talmud of Jmmanuel and I have became more in peace and spiritual than religion. I could see the beauty that Creation has made, but with God I did not. I told my mom that I didn't believe in God and she got really mad at me. I then told her about Billy Meier and about Creation and she offended me by saying "You're like those Jehova Witnesses!" I believe my mother told my father about it, but he hasn't talked to me about it. I've stopped talking to them less because of religion. They are shoving religion down my throat by saying such deceitful, illogical sayings from their delusional beliefs by saying "You will not succeed in life if you do not believe in God" or by bowing down. But I have been so successful without the help of an imaginary being. I told my mom that I don't want to go to church since I'm eighteen, but my mother told me that I still live under their roof. So I go with them to church, I pray the rosary with them, and I go to the church activities and I can't take it. I'm trying to be one with Creation but my parents aren't letting me. I'm planning on making a journey this summer so I could be one with Creation. What I am trying to say is should I leave and make a journey to be one with Creation or should I stay with my parents for an extra two more years until I go to university?
